LKF'S PROFILE

LKF Profile

The story of LKF begins back in 1963, when painted road markings seldom were long-lasting solutions – and certainly not in the small Danish town of Sdr. Longelse...

LKF Vejmarkering A/S is founded
Back in 1963 painted road markings were the norm – but when a newly developed thermoplastic material proved to last 6-8 times as long as paint, LKF Vejmarkering A/S was founded – the first in Denmark to produce the new material under a Swedish licence.

Manufacturer and contractor
The former dairy and the disused railway station in the town of Sdr. Longelse became the home for LKF, which not only produced thermoplastic, but also opened a contract department for laying road markings. There were still no standard machines for laying the new thermoplastic material, so LKF had to develop and build them itself.

ViaTherm® and PREMARK®
During the 70s, LKF grew steadily as thermoplastic became recognised as the dominant road marking material in Europe. In the laboratory, LKF developed its own thermoplastic product called ViaTherm® and cancelled its licence agreement. Road markings were still laid using machines and templates, but after several years of development work, LKF launched a product called PREMARK®, which is a prefabricated road marking ready for use.

TacPad® and TacGuide®

Over the last years, LKF has expanded the business areas and has started the production of tactile markings. TacPad® and TacGuide® signifies a safer route for the blind and visually impaired when travelling alone.

Export to most of the world
Throughout the ’80s, LKF increased its exports considerably and in 1988 became part of the Geveko group. During the ’90s, LKF developed the export market to include most of the world, including production in the US and use of its own sales teams in key markets.

LKF in the new millennium
Today, LKF is an ISO 9001 certified company and is Denmark’s largest supplier of contract work in connection with road marking and a large international player in the production and sale of thermoplastic road marking materials. Its subsidiary Trafik Produkter A/S in Denmark is a supplier of traffic safety products for public spaces.

It is LKF’s ambition to strengthen its position as market leader through product development, creation of new subsidiaries, its own sales managers, and development of the dealer network. LKF is well on the way...
